Are book lice harmful to humans?

I only find one or two everyone in a while crawling out of some kind of book or notebook, I just found one just now but it keep moving a round before I could squish it so are they harmful to humans and is there something I can do to so I never see one again. I don't like bugs in my books. Serious answers only please be mature.
