What is the best way to explore the Blue Mountains?

I have 2 days to explore the Blue Mountains, and want to make the most of my time! I have been looking at tours as I will be travelling alone, and am quite keen on going to Featherdale, and I would also like to do some walking in the area, as I am a keen hiker. However, I think it would be more sensible, as a young, single, female traveller, to go with a group. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?
